AMD continues to make gains in processor and data center markets thanks largely to its EPYC processors, which has chipped away at Intel’s long-standing dominance.

According to AMD’s Q1 2025 results, revenue increased 36% over the same quarter in 2024 to $7.4 billion. More specifically, its data center segment revenue jumped by 57% year-over-year to $3.7 billion, driven largely  by demand for EPYC CPUs and growing sales of AMD Instinct GPUs.

The chip company also recently unveiled and began shipping the Instinct MI350 GPUs and previewed its next-generation, AI-focused MI400 series for future AI racks, underscoring its commitment to an open software ecosystem (ROCm).”

Finally, AMD’s Client segment revenue jumped 68% to $2.3 billion, fueled by strong demand for its “Zen 5” AMD Ryzen™ processors, including its Ryzen AI 300 series, indicating a strong push for “AI PC” market share.

This news comes despite AMD facing a projected $1.5 billion revenue hit for fiscal 2025 due to U.S. export restrictions on AI chips to China.
